  • Blue Moment at Polarman’s Camp — Early Evening Winter Experience, Levi — The Same Camp, a Completely Different Light

The Blue Moment brings together everything the Arctic winter has to offer — in a single early evening program on private land, in the light that makes December and January in Lapland unlike any other time of year.

Why the Blue Moment Is Unlike Any Other Evening Program in Levi

    • The kaamos blue light — the deep, saturated twilight of the polar night that makes the snow igloo park and the landscape look unlike anything in full darkness or ordinary daylight
    • The same private camp, the same Polarman, the same snow igloo park as the full evening program — in an entirely different atmosphere
    • Earlier departures — 15:00, 16:30 or 17:30 — the right timing for families with young children
    • Aurora dome always open, always above +15°C (59°F) — guests move freely between inside and outside all evening
    • Live ticketed event: one price, every attraction included, nothing extra to buy on site
    • Professional photo session throughout — images sent by email after the event

The Blue Moment — The Light That People Travel to Lapland to See

In December and January, the sun barely rises above the horizon. For a few hours each day the sky turns a deep, saturated blue — not quite day and not quite dark — and everything in it takes on a quality that is almost impossible to photograph well and even harder to describe. The snow glows. The illuminated structures of the Snow Igloo Park look different in blue twilight than they do in full darkness. The forest is still.

This is the light that people travel to Lapland specifically to see. The Blue Moment is the early evening edition of Polarman’s Camp, so that everything — the walk along the river, the snow park, the BBQ, the aurora dome — happens inside that window of blue.

The Same Camp, the Same Program — A Genuinely Different Experience

The Blue Moment runs the same program as the full evening version of Polarman’s Camp. The Polarman, the snow igloo park, the Arctic survival presentation, the guided walk, the Lappish BBQ, the aurora dome, the stories — all the same. The only difference is the timing, and the light. The two programs feel genuinely different. Some guests choose to do both.

Who This Program Is For — Families, Early Evenings and the Polar Night

The evening version of Polarman’s Camp runs late — too late for families with young children. The Blue Moment solves that. Everything is the same, the timing works for children, and the light is something they will remember long after the evening is over.

It is also the right choice for anyone who wants to experience Polarman’s Camp in the specific atmosphere of the polar night, rather than in full darkness. The coloured light of the snow igloo park against the deep blue of the sky is one of the most photographed sights at the camp.

The Snow Igloo Park — Hand-Built Each Winter, Lit Against the Blue Sky

The Snow Igloo Park is a hand-built world of carved archways, connecting tunnels, igloos and snow sculptures — enclosed by walls of packed snow, and lit in deep blues, purples, reds and ambers. In the Blue Moment, the coloured light sits against the natural blue of the kaamos sky rather than full darkness. It is a different and rarer version of the same park.

Arctic Survival Presentation Inside the Snow Igloo

Inside the big snow igloo, the Polarman gives his Arctic survival presentation — sharing the knowledge and techniques drawn from his years of living and travelling in the north. One detail that surprises almost every guest: at -30°C (-22°F) outside, it is genuinely warm inside a snow igloo. You feel it yourself.

Children have their own section of the park — tobogganing on the snow slide, finding their way through the maze, exploring the snow tunnels.

The Lappish BBQ, Firepit Storytelling & the Blue Sky Above

The evening closes around the outdoor firepit. Collect your sausage from the Arctic BBQ Snow Station — a serving counter carved from snow inside the igloo — then grill it on a stick over the open fire. Marshmallows follow. More stories from the Polarman. The blue sky above.

Staff watch conditions throughout the evening. When there is activity in the sky, guests are called outside immediately, professional camera ready.

Professional Photo Session — Images Sent by Email After the Event

A professional photo session runs throughout the entire program. All images are processed and sent to guests by email after the event.

    Who This Is For

    • Families with young children who want the full Polarman’s Camp experience at an earlier hour
    • Guests who want to experience the kaamos blue light — the specific atmosphere of the polar night
    • Anyone who has done the evening program and wants to see how different the same place looks in blue twilight
    • Northern lights hopefuls who prefer an earlier start

    Private option

    Two private options are available:

    1. FULLY PRIVATE — The entire evening exclusively for your group: private transfer, private guide, private program, grilling sausages and marshmallows, warm drinks.

    2. COMFORT+ — Private transfer and guide, joining the group live program at Polarman’s Camp, with a private firepit outside reserved for your group for grilling sausages and marshmallows, warm drinks.

Contact us to arrange either option.

Responsibility waiver: Scandinavian Travel Group is not responsible for changes, disruptions or unavailability affecting any third-party venue or location visited during this program, for whatever reason. Important remarks

    F.A.Q.

    • What is the Blue Moment?

The Blue Moment is the period in December and January when the sun barely rises above the horizon. For a few hours each day the sky turns a deep, saturated blue — not quite day and not quite dark. Everything in it takes on a quality that is almost impossible to describe. The Snow Igloo Park looks different in blue twilight than it does in full darkness. This program is timed specifically to run inside that window.

    • How is this different from the evening version of Polarman’s Camp?

The program is the same: the Polarman, the snow igloo park, the Arctic survival presentation, the guided walk, the Lappish BBQ, the aurora dome. The difference is the departure time and the light. The Blue Moment runs at 15:00, 16:30 or 17:30, in the kaamos blue twilight. The evening version runs later, in full darkness. Some guests choose to do both.

    • Is the Blue Moment suitable for young children?

Yes — this is the version of Polarman’s Camp designed for families with young children. The earlier departures mean the program ends at a reasonable hour. There are no physical requirements. The aurora dome is warm throughout and always open as a refuge.

    • Can we see the northern lights during the Blue Moment?

Possibly. The camp is on private land with no artificial light pollution and an almost 360° open sky. Staff monitor conditions throughout and call guests outside immediately when there is activity. Northern lights depend on solar activity and clear skies and cannot be guaranteed. The full program runs regardless of sky conditions.

    • What is included in the entrance ticket price?

Transportation from Levi and the entrance ticket cover everything on site: the aurora dome with warm drinks and gingerbread cookies, the Snow Igloo Park, the Polarman’s Arctic survival presentation, the guided walk, the outdoor firepit with Lappish BBQ sausage and marshmallows, and the professional photo session sent by email. Nothing is extra on site.
