A private Northern Lights camp near Rovaniemi

Polarman's Camp is located approximately 25 minutes from Rovaniemi city centre, in a quiet forest clearing surrounded by Arctic nature. The clearing has minimal surrounding light and a clear view towards the northern sky, creating a peaceful setting for an evening spent watching for the Aurora.

On arrival, the Polarman welcomes the group and introduces the evening. As storyteller and Aurora watcher, he shares stories about the Northern Lights, explains what to look for in the sky and follows the conditions throughout the program.

The evening has a relaxed rhythm. Guests can move between the warm Aurora Dome, the outdoor firepit and the open forest clearing as the sky changes.

    Inside the warm Aurora Dome

Inside the heated Aurora Dome, guests settle onto reindeer skins beside the fireplace. The temperature stays at approximately +15°C or warmer, making the dome a comfortable place to sit, warm up and spend time during the evening.

A short Northern Lights film is shown on a large screen, followed by stories and legends about the Aurora. Hot berry juice or the Polarman's special magic drink is served with ginger cookies while the guide keeps watch on the northern sky.

The Aurora Dome remains available throughout the program, so guests can return to the warmth of the fireplace between periods outside.

    Watching the Northern Lights

The forest clearing at Polarman's Camp Live provides a clear view towards the northern sky with little surrounding light. Throughout the evening, the Polarman watches the conditions and keeps an eye out for signs of Aurora activity.

When activity appears, guests head outside to make the most of the sky from the clearing. Northern Lights sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

A photo and video session is available if requested. When conditions allow, the guide can photograph guests with the Northern Lights.

    Firepit under the Arctic sky

The outdoor firepit is a natural gathering place during the evening. Guests can grill traditional Finnish sausage and marshmallows, enjoy a warm drink and spend time watching the northern sky.

The outdoor fire, quiet forest setting and nearby heated Aurora Dome make it easy to enjoy the Arctic night comfortably while waiting to see what appears above.
