  • Wilderness Snowshoeing in Levi — Private Hut, Campfire, Fell Viewpoint, No Other Groups

Why this snowshoe tour stands out

    • Private lean-to or forest hut reserved exclusively for the group — no other visitors at any point
    • Just a 10-minute transfer from Levi — genuinely wild landscape without a long journey
    • Short climb to a fell viewpoint with open views across Lapland’s winter wilderness
    • Guide’s knowledge of the forest: what lives here, how the landscape changes through the seasons
    • Grilled sausage and hot berry juice by an open fire at the hut

A 10-minute transfer from Levi and then snowshoes on at the trailhead. The route covers 2–4 km through quiet woodland, with a short climb to a viewpoint where Lapland’s white landscape opens up. On a clear day the fell panorama makes the uphill worthwhile. On a cloudy one, the forest is enough.

Private wilderness hut and campfire stop

The route loops back close to the starting point, finishing at a private lean-to or forest hut reserved exclusively for the group. No other visitors in the area. The guide lights the fire. Sausages grilled on long sticks over the open flame. Hot berry juice. Time to warm up properly and let the forest settle around you. The guide talks about what happens here through the year — which animals use this land, how the light changes from polar night through spring, what it takes to live close to this landscape rather than just pass through it.

The transfer back to Levi is a short walk from the hut.

The terrain includes a short uphill section and is uneven throughout. Not recommended for guests with knee problems, heart conditions or mobility limitations.

    Who this is for

    • Couples and small groups seeking a secluded nature experience
    • Guests who want more than a town walk but prefer a shorter, more manageable route
    • Anyone who wants the private hut experience without a long tour

    Private Option

The hut is already private — a private tour makes the whole experience exclusive from the first step on the trail. Your group, your pace through the forest, your fire. Contact us to arrange.

    • Snowshoe fitting and use of snowshoes and poles
    • Guide throughout
    • 2-4 km snowshoe hike through quiet forest and fell terrain, with a viewpoint stop along the way (weather dependent)
    • Private wilderness lean-to or forest hut near the starting point at the end of the route, reserved exclusively for the group
    • Grilled sausage and hot berry juice by the fire
    • Vegetarian option available on request

    Important remarks

    F.A.Q.

    • Is the hut reserved exclusively for our group?

Yes. The private lean-to or forest hut is reserved solely for the group on this tour. No other visitors are in the area during the stopover.

    • What is the difference between the Easy Snowshoeing and Wilderness Snowshoeing with a Campfire Stop in a Private Hut tour?

The Easy tour starts and ends in Levi village with no transfer and is on mostly easy terrain. The Wilderness tour involves a 10-minute transfer, a short uphill climb to a viewpoint, and ends at a private hut with a campfire stop. Both are 2–2.5 hours and suitable from age 12.

    • Is the fell viewpoint always accessible?

The route to the viewpoint is weather dependent. On overcast or stormy days the guide may adjust the route. The hut stop at the end of the route is always included regardless of conditions.

    • What is the light like in December on this tour?

In December, daylight in Levi lasts roughly from 10:00 to 14:00. Tours in this window run in natural light. Later departures experience kaamos — the soft polar blue light of November and December — arriving at the hut as the light fades. The campfire glow in kaamos is a memorable contrast.

    Important remarks:

Level: Moderate. Uneven terrain, short uphill section. Not recommended for guests with knee problems, heart conditions or mobility issues.

Children's snowshoes: We do not have children's snowshoe sizes below EU 36. The minimum age of 12 is set accordingly — please contact us in advance if you are unsure about shoe size.

Hut: Private lean-to or forest hut reserved exclusively for the group.

Sausage: Vegetarian option available on request at time of booking.

Clothing: Warm winter clothing not provided. Available to rent at Safarimarket only. Rental: €10.

Arrival: Arrive at least 20 minutes early if renting clothing.

    Recommendation

    • Wear warm, layered clothing and sturdy insulated boots.
    • The hike involves 2.5 hours of active walking in cold outdoor conditions, including an uphill section.
    • Clothing rented from Safarimarket in Levi centre.
