Levi Wilderness E-Fatbike Tour with Campfire — Kätkä Fell, Private Trails, Winter and Summer–Autumn
Why this e-fatbike tour stands out
- Kätkä fell wilderness — deeper terrain than the Levi Fells tour, less trafficked
- Private winter biking trails built and maintained by our team — accessible from mid-November
- 15–20 km with a campfire stop at a lean-to shelter — hot drink and snack in the wilderness
- Two seasons: snow trails and frozen marshes in winter; forest, bog and fell views in summer
- Wildlife possible on both routes: reindeer, hares, snow grouse, foxes
- New 2025 Helkama FE12 electric fatbike — Finnish-made, 708Wh battery, designed for Arctic terrain
Ride Through Kätkä Fell Wilderness — Private Trails, Open Bog and Holiday Area Roads
The tour begins with pickup from Levi and a short transfer to the starting point at the edge of the wilderness. After bike and helmet fitting and a brief safety introduction, the group sets off on a 15–20 km route through the Kätkä fell area.
In Winter — Private Snow Trails Deep in the Wilderness
In winter the group rides on private trails built and maintained by our team from early in the season — allowing fatbiking throughout the entire winter from mid-November, even when other areas are inaccessible. The route combines private trails, holiday area roads and cycling paths, crossing frozen marshes, open bog and quiet woodland roads beneath the foothills of Kätkä fell. No other riders on these trails. True Arctic solitude.
In Summer and Autumn — Forest, Bog, Lake Views and Autumn Colour
In summer and autumn the route runs through forest trails, holiday area roads, duckboard-covered bogs and fell foothills, with views over Aakenus and Kätkä fells, and along the peaceful shores of Lake Immeljärvi. In late September and October the landscape turns orange, red and yellow. The route also passes through the Kätkä and Pyhä fell area, offering a varied mix of forest, marshland and fell views. The guide leads the group to the best vantage points along the way.
Campfire Stop at a Wilderness Lean-To or Kota Hut
Midway through the tour, the group stops at a lean-to shelter or wilderness hut. The guide lights a fire — hot drink, a small snack, a moment to warm up and take in the surroundings before the return leg. In dry periods, open fires may be prohibited; in that case drinks and snacks are served without fire.
Ride Safely with Comfort and Power — New 2025 Helkama FE12 Electric Fatbike
You ride a new 2025 Helkama FE12 electric fatbike — Finnish-made for Arctic terrain, equipped with a 708Wh battery. Our electric fatbikes are not available as standalone rental — they are used exclusively in guided tours, which means every bike is used under supervision, properly maintained and in consistently better condition than rental fleets at other operators in the area. The wide tires and powerful motor handle uneven ground, snow, mud and gentle climbs with ease, so the focus stays on the landscape and the ride rather than the effort.

Important remarks
F.A.Q.
- What are the private winter trails?
Our team builds and maintains dedicated fatbike trails in the Kätkä fell area from the start of each winter season. These trails are not on public maps and are not shared with other operators or riders. They allow us to offer electric fatbiking from mid-November onwards, even when public trails are not yet suitable.
- What is the difference between this tour and the 2–3 hour Levi Fells tour?
The Levi Fells tour covers 15–20 km through the Levi fell area, within 5–10 km of Levi centre — more accessible terrain, suitable for beginners and families, with a drink stop. The Wilderness tour covers a longer distance whenever weather conditions allow, through more remote terrain in the Kätkä fell area, with a campfire stop at a lean-to or kota hut. Both run in winter and summer–autumn.
- What happens if open fires are prohibited?
During dry periods in summer and early autumn, open fires may be officially prohibited due to forest fire risk. In that case the midway stop is served without fire — drinks and snacks are provided as normal.
- What should I wear?
In winter: warm layered clothing, insulated boots and gloves. In summer and early autumn: comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes and insect repellent. The terrain is more remote than the Levi Fells tour — dress for the conditions.
- Why are your electric fatbikes in better condition than at other operators?
Our electric fatbikes are not available as standalone rental. Every bike is used exclusively in guided tours — always with a guide present, always under supervision. This means the bikes are handled correctly, checked after every ride and properly maintained throughout the season. Rental fleets at other operators are used without supervision and often by riders with no prior experience, which results in significantly more wear. Our bikes are also new 2025 models — so you start the season on well-maintained, properly set up equipment from day one.
