  • Reindeer Search by E-Fatbike with Wilderness Hut Lunch — Full Day in Lappish Summer Wilderness, 15–30 km

Why this e-fatbike tour stands out

    • The longest e-fatbike tour in the program — 15–30 km through genuine Lappish wilderness
    • Summer reindeer search: the guide leads the group to areas where free-roaming reindeer are most likely to be found
    • Wilderness lean-to stop midway*: grilled sausage*, sandwich, hot coffee or berry juice by the fire
    • Forest trails, bogs, meadows, rolling fells — varied summer terrain throughout
    • Possible wildlife: reindeer, birds, hares, foxes
    • Summer only — 1 July to 21 September

Ride Through Reindeer Country — Forest, Bog and Rolling Fells

The tour begins with pickup from Levi and a short transfer to the starting point. After bike fitting, helmet and a brief safety introduction, the group sets off on a 15–30 km route through Lappish forests, open bogs on duckboards, meadows and gentle fell ridges.

The guide leads the group to areas where free-roaming reindeer are most likely to be found at this time of year. Reindeer in Lapland live semi-wild and move freely across vast areas of forest and fell. While these animals rarely allow a close approach, the guide knows the terrain and maximises the chance of a sighting. Observation and photography from a respectful distance.

Wilderness Lean-To Lunch Stop — Grilled Sausage by the Fire

Midway through the ride, the group stops at a lean-to shelter hidden in the woods. The guide prepares a fire* and grills Finnish sausage* — served alongside a sandwich with local ingredients and hot coffee or traditional berry juice. A proper rest in the wilderness before the return leg. In dry periods when fires are officially prohibited, the stop is served without open fire and grilling.

Ride Safely with Comfort and Power — New 2025 Helkama FE12 Electric Fatbike

You ride a new 2025 Helkama FE12 electric fatbike — Finnish-made for Arctic terrain, equipped with a 708Wh battery. Our electric fatbikes are not available as standalone rental — they are used exclusively in guided tours, which means every bike is used under supervision, properly maintained and in consistently better condition than rental fleets at other operators in the area. The wide tires and powerful motor handle uneven ground, snow, mud and gentle climbs with ease, so the focus stays on the landscape and the ride rather than the effort.

    Important remarks

    F.A.Q.

    • Will we definitely see reindeer?

Reindeer sightings are common on this route but cannot be guaranteed — these are semi-wild animals moving freely through vast areas of forest and fell. The guide leads the group to the areas where reindeer are most likely to be found at this time of year, and most tours result in a sighting. If reindeer are not found, the wilderness, the terrain and the lean-to lunch are still well worth the ride.

    • Is 15–30 km manageable without cycling experience?

Yes. The Helkama FE12 has a 708Wh battery and a powerful motor that handles uphills and rough terrain with ease. The tour takes 5–6 hours at a relaxed pace with stops along the way. Basic confidence on a bicycle is helpful. The guide adapts the pace to the group.

    • What happens if fires are prohibited?

During dry periods, open fires may be officially prohibited due to forest fire risk. In that case the lean-to stop is served without grilling — sandwiches, drinks and snacks are provided as normal.

    • What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for summer cycling. Sturdy shoes, a windproof jacket and long trousers. Insect repellent is essential throughout July, August and early September in Lapland. A water bottle and sunscreen on sunny days.

    • Why are your electric fatbikes in better condition than at other operators?

Our electric fatbikes are not available as standalone rental. Every bike is used exclusively in guided tours — always with a guide present, always under supervision. This means the bikes are handled correctly, checked after every ride and properly maintained throughout the season. Rental fleets at other operators are used without supervision and often by riders with no prior experience, which results in significantly more wear. Our bikes are also new 2025 models — so you start the season on well-maintained, properly set up equipment from day one.

    Important remarks:

Season: Summer only, 1 Jul – 21 Sep.

Reindeer: Semi-wild animals. Observe from a respectful distance and follow the guide’s instructions.

*Note! Open fires. During periods of high fire danger, open fires may be prohibited. In that case the snack and drink are served without open fire and grilling.

Insects: Insect repellent essential throughout the summer season.

Leave no trace: Take your rubbish back with you. Keep the nature clean.

Bike sizes: Minimum height 150 cm.
