  • Helsinki has a fascinating history from its founding under Swedish rule, then passing through the Russian and finally into Finnish, so it's no surprise you can see influences of the different styles and eras through the architecture in the historic centre from neo-classical in the 18th century - many of the buildings are compared to those in St. Petersburg, old Leningrad and Moscow - to Art Nouveau in the 1900s, inspired by Kalevala, and Classicism of the 1920a.

Discover the best of Helsinki during this 3-hours private tour of the city. Showcasing Helsinki's key attractions, providing a good overview of the city's past and present is the perfect way to see Helsinki, all from the comfort of your seat.

The tour takes you to the most interesting parts of Helsinki, such as the historical centre, City Hall, The Parliament buildings, Finlandia Hall and the Opera House, Uspenski Cathedral, Sibelius Monument, Market Square, Temppeliaukio Church built directly into solid rock, among many other top Helsinki attractions .

Its original architectural history was largely shaped by early neoclassical architecture and a regional form of art nouveau called Jugendstil. But its the later work of modernist architect Alvar Aalto that the city (and country) is most known for, as well as its thriving contemporary work deeply rooted in nature and local craft.

During the tour we will see the most significant sights of the city's contemporary architecture: new Oodi library, Amos Rex art museum outside forms, Löyly floating public sauna, wooden Kamppi Chapel of silence, Finlandia Hall.

We can't miss the historic architecture of Helsinki several of those build in Neo-classical and Art Nouveau architecture: National Museum, Helsinki Central Station, the Cathedral.
