During: Autumn 15.09 - Late autumn 31.10 (snowless season)
Step into the golden beauty of Lapland’s autumn wilderness with a visit to a secluded husky kennel just 15 minutes from Levi. Surrounded by colorful forests and the earthy scent of fallen leaves, this peaceful retreat offers a rare chance to experience the energy of sled dogs outside the snow season.
The kennel is home to a friendly pack of around 70 dogs — including Siberian and Arctic-Alaskan huskies, plus a few reindeer dogs — all well cared for and bursting with character. Each dog has its own name and personality, and during your visit you’ll be introduced to the team in a warm, personal way.
Your adventure begins with a guided 2.5 km husky ride in a custom-made troll cart, a wheeled sled designed for training during the snow-free months. Led by experienced mushers, the dogs pull the cart smoothly through forest trails glowing with autumn color — crisp air, rustling birch leaves, and golden pines creating a vivid, sensory-rich landscape.
After the ride, take time to thank your husky team and take photos before heading into the kennel for a closer look. You’ll meet more of the dogs, walk among their enclosures, and learn about their training, routines, and life throughout the year.
The kennel also features a special free-run area where selected dogs roam and interact freely with guests. Here, you’re welcome to pet and cuddle the huskies and capture relaxed, natural photos — a perfect moment of connection.
To finish, step into a traditional Lappish hut (kota) with an open fire, where you’ll enjoy hot berry juice and cookies in a cozy, atmospheric setting. It’s a time to relax, warm up, and chat with your hosts about husky life in the Arctic.
This kennel is dedicated to ethical dog care and well-being. The huskies live in spacious enclosures, receive daily attention, and enjoy regular rest days. Their training is based on trust, motivation, and positive reinforcement — reflected in the joy and enthusiasm they show on every run, even without snow.
