Golden route Hardanger: fjords and waterfalls, group

  • 6 hours
  • Easy
  • Full day
  • 4+
  • Bergen
  • Description
  • 09:00 Tour starts from your Bergen accommodation, port or airport.

Together with other group members and English speaking driver as your guide you head to the Hardangerfjord area. Your first stop will be Fossen Bratte waterfall lying a bit away from the mainroad, but a good opportunity for nice photos. Following picturesque road 7 towards the Hardangerfjord you will pass over the Kvamskogen area, a recreational area where Norwegians have their cabins.

On approaching the village of Norheimsund you will visit an amazing Steinsdalsfossen waterfall where the path actually goes in behind the waterfall itself, so you will suddenly find yourself literally two feet away from the water pouring down just in front of you.

We then drive on towards the Hardangerfjord itself, passing by the villages of Norheimsund and Oystese. From the village of Norheimsund and onward we will have the spectacular Hardangerfjord on our right hand side as we follow the road towards the village of Granvin. It is a plan for a stop at Steinsto fruit & cake shop. This is an opportunity to buy locally produced fruit from the Steinsto fruit farm in Hardanger.

After driving for another several minutes we stop for a while at a beautiful viewpoint along the Hardangerfjord, a really good opportunity for photographers. Some of the pictures included in our description is from this spot.

We take off from the main road and drive the narrow and curvy seasonal road towards Skjervet to meet Skjervofossen waterfall. Depending on traffic we sometimes are so lucky that we can stop in the middle of the road, having the water spray from the waterfall wash our car. Seasonal stop, road is not open the whole season.

Next we continue towards the village of Voss, here our driver will stop for one hour and you will have time on your own to explore the village of Voss, with all it's small perky shops, restaurants, cafeterias, Voss Gondol and the old stone church.

After Voss we start the 1hrs 15mins "transport leg" back to Bergen. Lean back, relax and take in the impressions of the day. Take a nap, or enjoy the view appearing in between the about fifty tunnels we will pass through on our way back to Bergen.

15:00 Returning back to Bergen city center.

    What's included

    • Group transportation with English speaking driver guide
    • Pick-up from Bergen Flesland Airport, Bergen Cruise Port or your Bergen hotel in city center

    Not included

    • Pick-up from your hotel outside Bergen city center

    Recommendation

Especially in the spring and autumn, even if it is warm in Bergen City itself, it might be a bit colder when we get into Hardanger and the Voss area. Remember to bring clothes that will keep you warm.
