Snowshoeing to Santa’s Cabin — Instagram trail, Levi
A 2.5-hour guided snowshoe tour descending from the summit of Levi fell to the lower parking area, stopping at Santa’s Cabin on the way down. Gondola lift to the summit included. Dec–Apr, ages 12+. Moderate level — continuous downhill on uneven snow terrain. Not suitable for guests with knee problems, heart conditions or mobility issues.
The gondola lifts the group to the summit (531 m). If the gondola is closed due to weather, a car transfer takes the group as far up as conditions allow, followed by approximately 500 m uphill walk to the snowshoe starting point. From the summit, the snowshoe route descends through open fell terrain into the forest below.
Santa’s Cabin is the first stop on the descent — a small snow-laden log hut set into the fell, known as the most-photographed location in Levi and made famous across Finland by the Christmas film Joulutarina. The guide allows time to photograph the cabin before the group continues into the forest. Midway down the slope, the group stops at a traditional kota for grilled sausage and hot berry juice. The tour ends at the lower parking area where the transfer back to Levi is waiting.
Minimum snowshoe size EU 36. The kota used is a public facility — other visitors may be present. On clear days, the summit view extends to the Swedish border; the fells of Ylläs, Pallas and Kätkä are visible on the horizon.

Recommendation

- The descent involves 1.5–2 hours of active walking on uneven snow terrain.
