Reindeer Safari 0.6 km in Levi
Experience one of Lapland's oldest forms of winter travel on a traditional reindeer sleigh ride near Levi. After a short transfer from Levi, the local reindeer herder welcomes the group, introduces the reindeer and shares stories about reindeer herding and its role in life in northern Finland.
The 0.6 km reindeer safari follows a quiet route through snow-covered forest. Sit back in the sleigh while the reindeer sets the pace through the winter landscape. The short route makes this an easy introduction to a traditional reindeer safari while still giving guests time to experience travelling behind these iconic Arctic animals.
On the tour, there is time to meet the reindeer, take photographs and hear more from the herder. A hot drink is served, and a traditional kota provides a warm place to shelter from the cold before the return to Levi.
Until 7 January, the program also includes a snowmobile-pulled sled ride after the reindeer safari.

- How long is the reindeer sleigh ride?
The sleigh route is approximately 10 minutes through snowy forest.
- Can we meet the reindeer on this tour?
Yes. There is time after the ride for photographs, meeting the reindeer and hearing stories from the herder.
- Is warm winter clothing included?
No. Warm winter clothing is not included. It can be rented separately from Safarimarket in Levi centre. Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure if you need rental clothing.
- What happens in very cold weather?
If the temperature reaches -30°C or below, the experience may be rescheduled or refunded for safety and comfort.
Important remarks:
Reindeer: Semi-wild animals. Remain calm and follow the guide’s instructions at all times.
Clothing: Warm winter clothing is not included. You can rent it at our Safarimarket pick-up location only (Keskuskuja 2 B 3) — clothing cannot be sent to other pick-up points. Allow at least 20 minutes before departure to get dressed.
Children: Child price for ages 2–11. Children under 2: transportation fee only.
Seasonal sled train: Until 7 January, a snowmobile-pulled sled train transfer after the reindeer safari is included.
Responsibility waiver: Scandinavian Travel Group is not responsible for changes, disruptions or unavailability affecting the reindeer farm or any other third-party venue visited during this program, for whatever reason. Where a venue is unavailable, the guide will make reasonable alternative arrangements where possible. No refund is due for circumstances beyond our control.
Recommendation
- Wear warm winter clothing, including thermal base layers, insulated boots and mittens. In cold weather, cover exposed skin and bring hand warmers. Clothing can be rented from Safarimarket in Levi centre at extra charge. Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure if you need rental clothing.

- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 21 days or less before the event
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 365 days or less before the event
