Why visit this Husky Park in Levi

    • One of Finland's oldest husky kennels, run by renowned Finnish musher Reijo Jääskeläinen
    • 2 km musher-driven husky safari through snowy forest and frozen lake scenery
    • Meet Siberian huskies, Arctic foxes, red foxes, tundra wolves, dog-wolf mixes, spitzes and racoon dogs
    • Some of the animals have been professionally trained for film productions
    • No self-driving required during the husky safari
    • Meet Taika the kissing reindeer and enjoy time with the animals
    • Warm Lappish hut with hot drinks, cookies and sausage after the outdoor program
    • Visit Reijo's Hall of Fame and learn more about his life with sled dogs

One of Levi's best known husky kennels

The experience begins with a transfer from Levi to Husky Park, one of Finland's oldest husky kennels and the home of well-known Finnish musher and animal trainer Reijo Jääskeläinen.

During the drive, your guide introduces the world of huskies and Arctic animals before the visit continues inside the park.

Husky Park is home to Siberian huskies of different ages as well as Arctic foxes, red foxes, tundra wolves, dog-wolf mixes and spitzes. Puppies may also be present depending on the season. Some of the animals have been specially trained for film work, giving the park a history that reaches beyond traditional sled dog activities.

During the guided visit, the host introduces the animals, demonstrates some of their trained skills and shares stories about their personalities, training and experiences in film productions.

    2 km musher-driven husky safari

The highlight of the visit is a 2 km husky sled ride through the winter landscape around the park.

Guests sit comfortably in the sled while an experienced musher stands behind on the runners and controls the team. Each sled can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children (depending on the children’s size and total weight).

Once the dogs begin to run, the route leads through snow-covered forest and frozen lake scenery. The dogs settle into their natural rhythm while the musher manages the team from behind. Guests can concentrate fully on the ride, the dogs and the surrounding Arctic landscape.

The musher-driven format makes this an easy introduction to husky sledding for guests who want to experience travelling behind a working dog team while the musher handles the sled.

Meet the animals at Husky Park

The husky safari is only part of the visit. Time is also spent meeting the animals around the park and learning more about their lives.

Siberian huskies remain at the centre of the experience, and the park's collection of Arctic animals gives the visit its distinctive character. Guests may meet Arctic and red foxes, tundra wolves, dog-wolf mixes, spitzes and puppies when available.

There is also an opportunity to meet Taika, the park’s friendly kissing reindeer, and take photographs.

Please remove gloves and mittens before touching the huskies and other animals. They are playful and may grab or damage them. Guests should not feed the animals.

Warm up in the Lappish hut

After the outdoor activities, the visit continues inside a cosy Lappish hut by the fireplace.

Hot berry juice or coffee is served together with cookies and a warm sausage. It is a chance to warm up after the husky ride and spend more time hearing stories about life with sled dogs in Finnish Lapland.

Guests can also visit Reijo's Hall of Fame, watch a short film about husky life and browse the local souvenirs before returning to Levi.
