Join us on a visit to one of the most picturesque reindeer farms in Lapland, beautifully located on the banks of the Ounasjoki River, where the flowing rapids remain unfrozen even in the coldest Arctic winter. Steeped in history, the farm’s old barn once served as a traditional guesthouse for travelers crossing this region.
The farm is run by Johanna, her mother, and their dedicated team, who together have decades of experience in traditional reindeer herding. With roots partly in Sámi culture, Johanna brings a deep respect for nature and heritage into every part of the guest experience, reflecting the traditions of Arctic reindeer life.
The experience includes a peaceful and refreshing reindeer sleigh ride on a 1 km track — long enough to enjoy the snowy landscape and the rhythm of the ride, yet short enough to stay comfortably warm.
After the ride, you’ll step into the reindeer corral for a truly special encounter. Here, you’ll have the chance to feed young reindeer calves their favorite Arctic treat — lichen, a natural delicacy they love like candy. Your hosts will guide you through this unique and safe interaction with the animals.
To conclude the program, you’ll be invited into the cozy guesthouse. In the warmth and comfort of this traditional space, you’ll enjoy hot drinks and homemade pastries, along with a short presentation about reindeer herding traditions and daily life on the farm — a relaxing and culturally rich way to end your Lapland reindeer safari.
