This traditional Saami restaurant is built as a turf hut partly dug into the ground and has a very special cozy and warm feeling. It’s located just 5 minutes walking distance from the Levi center.
This is the place to have a great filling and tasty dinner in a unique Lappish atmosphere. In the middle of the restaurant you will find an open fireplace, walls and ceiling are made of tree trunks. The co-owner of the restaurant, Niles Jouni Aikio is a famous joik singer and ancestor of powerful Sami shaman. You will see some of his family photographs and artifacts on the walls. His wife Anne is a chef and hostess here and she wears a traditional Saami dress. Food is mainly served on the buffet around the fireplace in clay pots. Main courses: fire-glowed salmon is prepared on the wooden plank by the open fire and reindeer steak is smoked above the fire in a traditional way. Besides the mains there are other mouth-watering reindeer meals: ribs, tongue, heart, sauteed reindeer and also caramelized root vegetables, mashed potatoes and other delicacies. For the start you will get a fish soup and for desert - traditional melted squeaky cheese with cloudberries and whipped cream.
